He was born Feb. 15, 2008, son of Joshua Jacob and Lauren Elizabeth (Liebscher) Simon. His biological mother preceded him in death and he has been raised by his father and mother, Emily Sue (Jordan) Simon.Jacob was a third-grade student at Kingsley Elementary School, and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.Survivors: his parents; two brothers, Ryan Nicholas and Jonathan Patrick; his paternal grandparents, Patrick and Deidre Simon of Waterloo; his paternal great-grandparents, Donald and Giesela Conklin of New Jersey; his maternal grandparents, Wendy and Mark Jordan and Dr. Lawrence and Mary Liebscher, all of Waterloo; his maternal great-grandparents, Robert Cavanaugh of Waterloo and Darlene Jordan of Cedar Falls and many uncles, aunts, cousins, family members and friends.Preceded in death by: his mother; paternal great-grandparents, Ralph and Cecelia Simon; maternal great-grandmother, Helen Cavanaugh; and maternal great-grandfather, Floyd Jordan.Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 5, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 627 W. 4th St., with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Kearns Funeral Service Kimball Chapel, 3146 Kimball Ave., Waterloo, where there will be a parish Scripture service at 7 p.m. , and after 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church.Memorials: to the family.Jacob competed in multiple sports, was a voracious reader, was eager to play board games and enjoyed playing video games with his family. He excelled in school and was a member of the First Lego League and wanted to become a scientist when he grew up.

Fank, 76, of Waterloo, died Saturday, Jan. 21, at Covenant Medical Center.She was born May 13, 1940, in Waterloo, daughter of Lester and Verna Davis Hesse. She married Reynold F. Fank on June 4, 1960, at St. Nicholas Church in Evansdale; he preceded her in death Nov. 22, 2008.Jean was a graduate of Waterloo West High School. She worked as an Avon representative for many years. She was a member of the Avon Presidents Club.Survived by: two sons, Jeffrey R. (Dawness) Fank of Janesville and Michael S.
